January brought with it some cold, celebrating another trip around the sun for me, and a new attitude for Athena.
We seemed to have turned 3 and hit the “three-nager” wall…. hard. We ask her to clean up, she says “no.” Honestly, it’s like living with the most extreme Sour Patch kid, because when she isn’t being sour, she is playing with Eleanor so kindly, or snuggling watching Zoo, and giving kisses. It is Sour Patch Kid whip lash. Thankfully we were able to get outside a few times to burn some cabin fever off.
The emotions are big. The reactions are big. We’ve had more meltdowns and time outs the than we’ve probably had in months. Needless to say, it has been testing every button, every raw nerve, and even the ones made of steal. Jesus. Coffee. Oils. It’s basically the mantra I’ve been living by.
Meanwhile, Eleanor hit 6 months! I know everyone always says this, but I seriously can’t believe it’s been 6 months. She’s so big it feels longer, but it also feels like the blink of an eye.

We tried our first cereal! With Athena I got organic, oat cereal. This time around I got smart. We already purchase organic, non-GMO oat meal for ourselves. Ethan had the brilliant idea to use the coffee grinder to grind the flakes fine enough to use as cereal. I mix it with breastmilk. It was a huge success and she ate quite a bit her first meal.
We had Winter Olympics with our sweet friends! It was a lovely morning change up and a lot of fun! You can read all about it HERE!

I turned 28 this year and it’s certainly an odd feeling. In a lot of ways I feel like we should be “further along.” But then as I read books like Lisa Bevere’s Godmothers, she talks about being 30, pregnant, and in a gross motel, as they were still in the infancy of their ministry. I’m reminded that I don’t have to be doing it ALL or even at “peak” right now.

I got a day of self care including a mani at Hershey Melt Spa. I try to get a color I don’t own or haven’t done before. At 28 there aren’t many left. But I looked down and saw the black. I’d never had a black manicure. I went for it. I also loved it and came right home and added a black polish to my Wishlist. It felt sassy and clean without being a red.
Rounding out our January we celebrated with a snowstorm! A real one. Like over 12 inches kind of snowstorm. Athena’s biggest storm yet. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it 1,000 times more- we bought our house for the land and this view is my favorite.
