Under Construction

The last few months have been a true whirl wind. As I continue to blog, work with homeschool families, teach live classes, write curriculum, and oh yeah- start a podcast, it was time for a bit of a pause button. My school year with True North for 22-23 is officially DONE. We are entering into evaluation season which will be done at the end of June. I am teaching 2 summer classes, plus homeschooling the girls. I knew that I would be more or less taking a “break” from posting blogs & new podcasts at least for a good chunk of the summer.

This allows a few things. I’m going to be writing & recording over the next few weeks and working on all of that content so that I’m not so pressured to be writing and recording on such a tight timeline during the school year. I’ll be able to schedule further out. This is often a struggle for me as I tend to be a very “in the moment” poster. The blog & podcast are 2 areas I feel like I can realistically relieve some of that pressure. I’ll still post on Instagram fairly consistently, but it’s not something I’ve ever been successful at planning and scheduling long term.

I am SO thankful and excited to be working with my very dear and sweet friend Abby on a new logo and branding guidance. A few years ago I switched my name from “Knaub Knows” to “The Nurtured Bee.” It’s a name I’m still in love with, and don’t plan on leaving any time soon. At one point I had tried to pay someone to create a logo for me and it was an absolute flop. The only thing I got out of it was “my bee.” And even then, it’s not anything spectacular. I ended up creating my own logo in Canva, using “my bee.” When I created it, the font I used was not very widely used as it was a Canva Pro font. On a day-to-day, I now probably see it 17 times. It just feels lack luster and I’ve used it because it worked. Which is exactly where my insanely talented friend Abby comes in. She is a pro and I adore all of her branding work and can’t wait for what she comes up with!

Along with updating my logo & branding, I am doing some updates to the website! There are a few formatting things that I am manipulating and shifting around. From the very beginning in college, I have been flying by the seat of my pants. I started my blog as an assignment for my Writing for the Media class. I stuck with it as I shared book reviews, recipes, and my gardening. I took a bit of a break and picked it back up in earnest when I had Athena. It’s continued to grow over the years, and nobody is more surprised than me to have an entire area dedicated to homeschoolers and a whole page for my podcast. When I tell you I have been making this all up as I go along, I’m really not kidding. I’ve had to learn it all and do it all from scratch.

Thus, it may seem quiet, but believe me when I tell you that it is a flurry of hive activity behind the screen. I am hoping to post book reviews as I get through books for my summer reading challenge, but I’m not sure that much else will come through between now and September. However, I am hoping to have my logo & branding updated and released before the end of the summer.

Thank you for everyone who has stuck with me over the years. You’ve read through crafts, recipes, tiny human things, educational materials and so much more. To those who have been listening to the podcast- THANK YOU! I tried it just to try, with nothing to lose. It’s been more successful than I expected and I am excited to chat with more of my remarkably cool friends. To my homeschool families- I hope to make this space a true resource that allows me to serve you well.

PS- The site will remain fully functional and nothing is actually leaving/coming down! One day you’ll just get on and it will all be fresh and updated. So please feel free to continue reading, sharing, and filling out any forms you need to.
