2024-2025 School Year

It’s official! Officially official! We are PA Homeschoolers!
In our state you don’t have to register until after your child turns 6, as Kindergarten is also not compulsory. But THIS YEAR is the year. Our affidavit has been notarized and objectives signed. Per the state of PA it is REAL.

As an actively certified PA teacher, I have the option to do, what is called, “Private Tutor.” I wouldn’t have to complete an evaluation at the end of the year or complete required standardized testing. Otherwise it is more or less the same as homeschooling. At least for now, I have decided to wait to register as a Private Tutor and to just go the regular homeschool route. We have a dear friend that was a kindergarten teacher that’s willing to do our evaluation. If I’m super honest, a good year of external accountability will do me good.

4 days/week minimum for about 45wks. I’ve already scheduled December-February for us to more or less be “off.”

Each day we do morning board and our letter of the day. With each letter I have cards from @tinytheologians and @kidsreadtruth with Bible verses, vocab, and people of the Old & New Testament!

Then I have Eleanor’s @thegoodandthebeautiful Preschool curriculum! She is begging to get started. Athena is wrapping up the TGTB Kindergarten curriculum.

July we’ll be learning about the ocean so I have supplemental resources from @fortheloveofhomeschooling and our TGTB Ocean activity book.

I’m also starting Story of the World with them this year. The activities are so fun and I love that it incorporate Bible stories. We will also be using our 50 States activity book.

I had gotten an undated planner from @annavancepaper that I’m using for Nora, and a @schoolnest student planner for Athena. I’m finishing up using my AVPCo planner before I switch to my @erincondren in the fall.

We will continue to use our favorite Art book to incorporate into our art study along with @lily_and_thistle Watercolor School.

@jonesroots @theheritageschoolhouse flash cards are some of my fav to have on hand.

We also have manipulatives for DAYS.

A milk crate has become one of my best friends for our homeschooling. Even though I roughly plan for the week on Sundays, each evening, or first thing in the mornings, I load up what I’ll need for the day in the milk crate. Whether we decide to do school inside at the kitchen table, on the front porch, the drive way, or backyard, all I have to do is grab and go. I don’t have to dig through my collection of resources, find THAT book, rummage through art supplies, etc. It’s just there. In the bin. Ready and waiting.

And now that I’ve gone through everything, have a plan in place, and have everything organized, we are ready to start our school year!🎉
