A friend of mine did a summer bingo and asked if I had one she could add to her newsletter. I said, “NO! But I can make one!” Famous words.
I thought really hard about this. For real. It was tricky because I also wanted to pick books I don’t currently teach in my classes, so current or future students don’t end up double reading a book. Of course, there are WAY too many favorites. I tried to incorporate a mix of American AND European literature for a well rounded reading list. It’s a little bit all over the place, but every book is considered a classic, and definitely books that I think everyone should read at least once.
Oh but Anna, do you have anything so that we can make some of these reads more than summer reads, but make them count towards something? Like a book report?
WELL FUNNY YOU SHOULD ASK!
I created this handy dandy book report download that you can use with ANY book! Answering may require a quick Google search (like about the author or original publication date), but the rest is right out of your students’ noggin. To be fair, this is GREAT for adults who want a good challenge as well! If you want to read, but put a little extra UMPH into that reading, this is for you too!
Your prize?
Absolute, glorious, bragging rights. There’s a good chance most of your friend group hasn’t read all of these books. But YOU will have.
